Always working in a team is better than working alone – this is the key while working on projects.

A quote from our ancient management book, Arthashastra, says “Let us two build a fort”. One should move from ‘competitive mindset’ to ‘compatibility mindset’. There cannot be a leader unless there is a team and this is an ability to work in teams and also to inspire their teams to work together.

First step will be discussing the project before you start. Inform your people on the new assignment. Get their suggestions and opinions because it is always better to involve than to inform. This way you can look at the project from different angles.

Direct your team. But at the same time give them their freedom to complete the work in their own way. Most leaders have a major problem in this regard. Try to adapt to change. Be around when your team requires you. Make your team sense their path as well.

Do not forget to enjoy the journey. Have fun while working together. Share the team’s joys and sorrows. When you don’t take breaks and share burdens, it results in stress. You should be avoiding this!

When you succeed – celebrate! In case you lose, get up and keep moving for your next success.
